Blaugust 2026 #6: What Drives You To Blog
If blogs didn't exist, I'd write it (pen/paper). If writing didn't exist, I'd speak it.
Blogging is a form of sharing, a form of expression, a form of release of our thoughts and workings. And I think no matter what tools we have access to, this need or drive to share, connect, and release is part of being human.
I know there are studies that would tell me a lot more of why (scientifically), but this is anecdotal. Although, I am aware of the research that has come out concluding through the observation that women are more apt to develop auto-immune diseases, that by repressing emotions and concerns, putting others first, not expressing ourselves when we need to, can make us sick.
Physically or mentally.
In general, journaling or blogging is good for our mental health. It helps with memory, helps with thought organization and processing...
So what drives me to blog?
Beyond the need described above, it also gives me a place to look back on what I've done, thought, examined, etc. It's like a photo album for my thoughts. Journaling is much the same, although more personal and things that I wouldn't put on the internet, no matter that only 2 people read this! haha
